LOTE - what is?



The acronym ‘LOTE’ stems from the Estonian ‘Loodus- ja tehnoloogiateaduskond’, which directly translates into ‘Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology’, or ... in it’s shorter form - Faculty of Science and Technology.

Formally, LOTE is a recent faculty.

It took off in Jan. 1, 2008 after the fusion of the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry and the Faculty of Biology and Geography, the Estonian Marine Institute and the Institute of Technology.

The scientific focus of LOTE is natural sciences: biology, physics, chemistry, Earth sciences, environmental sciences, material technology, biomedicine and related areas.

The actual research and development activities take place in the institutes, departments, and laboratories.
